(sad, really) The first thing to check is that in your CSS comment header you referenced the parent theme using only lowercase letters.

In my case, the issue was that Thematic originally installed to my directory in this folder: "thematic.0.9.7.7", which contained the "thematic" folder. So to get it to work, in the CSS header I had to reference the theme like this:

Theme: thematic.0.9.7.7/thematic

Hope this saves someone else the headache.
rgb_life on "Help with Thematic Child Themes" http://forums.themeshaper.com/topic/help-with-thematic-child-themes#post-22164 Wed, 06 Jul 2011 03:20:04 +0000 rgb_life 22164@http://forums.themeshaper.com/
I'm sincerely not trying to sound patronizing...
But, it sounds to me like you need to take the journey down the HTML and CSS road.

If you have no experience in these languages, buy a book and hit the keys! Not sure why it doesn't work but one thing you can try is to change $ to jQuery in this piece of the code

I mean like this:

Jquery runs in noconflict mode on the power blog and because of that $ will not work. Not sure if this helps but you can try it.
mithers on "How To Change The Look of Thematic With a WordPress Child Theme" http://forums.themeshaper.com/topic/how-to-change-the-look-of-thematic-with-a-wordpress-child-theme/page/2#post-12724 Tue, 01 Jun 2010 12:51:33 +0000 mithers 12724@http://forums.themeshaper.com/
Hello everyone, I was browsing around the forum and find a interesting thread here.
