ThemeShaper Forums Topic: Has Thematic been killed? http://forums.themeshaper.com/ Help In Shaping WordPress Themes en Sun, 24 May 2015 19:14:11 +0000 lambeboy on "Has Thematic been killed?" http://forums.themeshaper.com/topic/has-thematic-been-killed#post-19371 Fri, 25 Feb 2011 19:42:37 +0000 lambeboy 19371@http://forums.themeshaper.com/
Wow, was just about to post a question if the "child theme" concept is being abandoned all together when i found this post.

I noticed theme hybrid sort of scraped child themes (released a prototype theme) and is now pushing for parent themes, then all talk of child themes disappeared from themeshaper (and a new release of the toolbox theme).

Also, wordpress.com didn't adopt the whole child theme thingy (went with premium themes instead) so it got me thinking.........
em hr on "Has Thematic been killed?" http://forums.themeshaper.com/topic/has-thematic-been-killed#post-19323 Tue, 22 Feb 2011 21:25:54 +0000 em hr 19323@http://forums.themeshaper.com/
Thematic is very much alive :) It's just in transition at the moment. Sorry for the inconvenience. We're currently working on the migration to a new domain and host. Thanks for your patience.
Jonny Janiero on "Has Thematic been killed?" http://forums.themeshaper.com/topic/has-thematic-been-killed#post-19318 Tue, 22 Feb 2011 07:48:53 +0000 Jonny Janiero 19318@http://forums.themeshaper.com/
[insert smiley face here]
Chris on "Has Thematic been killed?" http://forums.themeshaper.com/topic/has-thematic-been-killed#post-19313 Mon, 21 Feb 2011 21:53:24 +0000 Chris 19313@http://forums.themeshaper.com/
ThemeShaper is the official Automattic Theme Team blog now, and therefore, we are going to move Thematic, the wiki, and the forums to a new domain. Gene and I are currently discussing which domain to use.

Btw., congratulations to Gene, who is our new Lead Developer :)

Gene and I will administrate these new sites. This includes assigning contributors, authors and moderators, and all site related maintenance tasks.

Depending on the domain, the wiki could start next week. This includes a new structure.

The forums could take a week longer. We still need to do some tests, to ensure that we get the user data and all entries over to the new forums. This includes the upgrade to the latest bbPress version.

We will keep you updated during the next days.

Chris

PS.: I will move to our new apartment on Friday, therefore, I might be more or less off-line for the weekend and my updates might be very brief.
Pictrix on "Has Thematic been killed?" http://forums.themeshaper.com/topic/has-thematic-been-killed#post-19311 Mon, 21 Feb 2011 17:45:48 +0000 Pictrix 19311@http://forums.themeshaper.com/
I am very relieved and glad to hear Thematic is a continuing project. I was dismayed when I didn't find the usual content at themeshaper.com.

I'll eagerly await any updates.

Thanks Helgatheviking and Chris for your prompt response. I can breathe more easily now!
Chris on "Has Thematic been killed?" http://forums.themeshaper.com/topic/has-thematic-been-killed#post-19310 Mon, 21 Feb 2011 17:01:47 +0000 Chris 19310@http://forums.themeshaper.com/
Thematic is not dead!

I'll post an official announcement later this evening.

Chris
helgatheviking on "Has Thematic been killed?" http://forums.themeshaper.com/topic/has-thematic-been-killed#post-19308 Mon, 21 Feb 2011 15:39:57 +0000 helgatheviking 19308@http://forums.themeshaper.com/
Pictrix et all....

I don't purport to have the final say or even any sort of official word, but I did ask Ian via Twitter where Thematic was going and he responded that Thematic would find its new home at Chris' Thematic4You.com site. I have no idea when this will be happening. Last I heard from Gene, they were shooting to have something up by this past weekend... which doesn't look to have happened (from our view anyway). I would love to have an official announcement from Chris or Gene, but I am fairly certain that Thematic isn't dead.
Pictrix on "Has Thematic been killed?" http://forums.themeshaper.com/topic/has-thematic-been-killed#post-19304 Mon, 21 Feb 2011 13:29:17 +0000 Pictrix 19304@http://forums.themeshaper.com/
I'm shocked!

Visiting themeshaper.com I found that the any mention of the Thematic theme has been scraped as if it never existed. There is a link to download thematic 0.9.6.1 but that's about it. The home of thematic turns out, is now the "Home of the Auttomatic Theme Team" and there is only talk about wordpress.com themes.

There is no explanation from Ian Stewart as to what happened to thematic or a link redirecting thematic users. The link to this forum has been scraped too.

Has thematic been terminated?

Should we now start scrambling to find a new framework for our childthemes?

Would somebody please explain what is going on and where will this leave the thematic users?

I will greatly appreciate it.
