  1. Hi all... i'm building a new site, and it's going to be mostly static pages... using WP and thematic as a CMS framework.

in doing that, i need to be able to keep the menu (access) going to certain pages, and include another menu in the footer that leads to other pages as well...

i'd like to know the cleanest approach to creating a new menu widget that i can keep in the footer.

this could be possible using the "pages" widget and placing it in the footer subsidiary by exluding certain page IDs, but is there a way to restric the menu items that appear in the "access" div?

any help would be much appreciated

  2. well... i just noticed that the post --> <-- has to do with only allowing specific pages to display in the access menu... i'll just add that other menu widget to the aside, and exclude all the pages from the top level menu...

  4. so, if i'm trying to exclude pages, i use the page ID? which in my case happens to be "about-us" instead of "24" etc...

doesn't seem to work... also, i can add that exclusion code to both the functions.php and the header-extensions.php. should it be added to both, or only the functions.php?

  5. The menu is generated by the wp_page_menu tag (Codex documentation) so it has to be the ID.

Any modifications should only be applied to the child theme functions.php. This means you should never have to edit the /thematic/ folder files, as all the changes should be made to the files in your /childtheme/ folder.

Just in case I'm confusing you here, Catswhocode explains the idea very well. :)
