  1. I am trying to figure out how to add a widget area into the middle of a post content, say after the first or second paragraph.

I know how to add widgets. I know how to use them, but I don't know how to tell Thematic to insert it in the middle of the content.

I have tried a plugin, Post Layout (http://www.satollo.net/plugins/post-layout), which offers to add in-post content (not as a widget, more for ads). However, it's in-post option doesn't seem to do anything to Thematic. (I haven't tested it on any other themes, mind you.)

If anyone could suggest a method or a plugin that works, I'd really appreciate it.

The site I'm working on: http://notes.hypercrit.net

    Thanks!

  2. I got that to work, and it's just what I'm looking for apart from one thing: Is there a way to make it behave like a normal widget. By that, I mean, to make it display without having to enter a short-code into every post?

In other words, is there a way to make it behave exactly like the index insert widget, to declare that it will appear after paragraph 'n'?

I did find this bit of code, but I don't know how to make it work with Thematic or if it does. My knowledge of PHP is somewhat limited, so I'm not even sure this one will work. http://richspy.com/how-to-insert-ads-after-paragraph-of-wordpress-post/
