I am using child thematics on a 2nd website. The first one is fine and I could put the meta, etc. widgets where I wanted them. However, this time the following widgets are not available in the widgets listing for add or edit.

    meta
    rss feeds
    archives
    links
    search
    calendar

I have added a different widget in the "secondary aside" and that eliminated the default widgets, as noted in another forum question. However, the default widgets, although still included in the widgets listing, do not have any kind of buttons for adding or editing.

I've done a side-by-side comparison of the sidebar.php in both websites but find no differences. Obviously, I'm going to have to remove the replacement widget so that I can login and admin the website temporarily. I know from my previous website that I will need to display:none the #secondary when I have a fix.

For this website, I uploaded and installed "thematics" through the normal process. I have not copied any files from my previous website because I'm using this 2nd one to reinforce my learning and am using my child style.css to make all my changes.

  2. Hey Liz,

have you tried a Thematic Options / Reset Widgets? Might be that the mentioned widgets are still in use by another Theme.

    Cheers,

    Chris

Well, that was one of those "duh" moments! I did reset and it worked perfectly. Thanks again for your quick and concise response.
