  1. Hello everyone, I am new to thematic and CSS in general. :) This is my thematic website that I've been working on: http://www.iamscumbag.com . I came across this wonderful technique in CSS Zen Garden that involves using a few extra divs to add fixed images around the site's border http://www.csszengarden.com/?cssfile=069/069.css as you can see in this link. I have found a website explaining the how-to's http://web-css.org/Peachpit.Press-The.Zen.of.CSS/0321303474/ch06lev1sec3.html but I did not want to go messing around in thematic's html files, if possible I would like to keep it all inside the child theme. :) So are there 4 extra divs I could hijack to make this happen?

    FYI: I want the website to look like it's being seen from an old CRT monitor. :)

    No need to steal divs, you can create your own in your child theme's functions.php file. To add them before the closing body tag like on Zen Garden, I think you need the thematic_after hook:

    function create_crt_bezels() { ?>

        <div id="bezel-top"></div>
        <div id="bezel-right"></div>
        <div id="bezel-bottom"></div>
        <div id="bezel-left"></div>

    <?php }

    add_action('thematic_after','create_crt_bezels');

    This should get you the divs you need to start styling in CSS.

  4. Anyone else interested in some cool ways to position content should check out http://lostworldsfairs.com/ with Mozilla's Firebug. Really awesome stuff.
