  1. I searched for this, so please excuse me if I missed something. The terms are rather generic though.

I have a very lightly modified child theme atop Thematic PowerBlog and I get thrown this error:

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/extremep/public_html/wp-content/themes/EPT Child Theme/functions.php:31) in /home/extremep/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 890

When setting options in the administrative areas, saving pages, etc.

Also, in the editing area, where the "Last edited by" section is, I get a red(ish) box conatining:

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/extremep/public_html/wp-content/themes/EPT Child Theme/functions.php:31) in /home/extremep/public_html/wp-includes/classes.php on line 1601

I can't decipher much from that. My child theme's functions.php has the default content (all commented out). Not sure where to go from here.

  2. Argh! I decided to pull down the functions.php locally and use a text-ed with line numbers instead of just looking at it in WP. Turns out there were two newlines after the ?>

Hopefully that's got it sorted for now. Sorry for jumping the gun!

Was gonna mention that its most likely a space or extra line before <?php or after ?> but it looks like you found it. That ones got me for hours before.

  4. Thank you! I searched the error terms, as I was getting a similar error (with everything seemingly working otherwise). Had a couple new lines too, but all fixed now.

  5. i feel like that error is some sort of initiation rite. i think it gets everyone. the error is cryptic b/c it says the header was already sent by pluggable.php and that sort of leaves you w/ a WTH feeling b/c you never touched pluggable.php
