  1. Hi all,

I would like to have some of the functionality of dreamweaver and/or expression w/in wordpress. Does anyone know of a good plugin? I do not want wordpress to modify my html and I would like a find and replace for the css/php editors. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check out one of the two, Netbeans, or PHPEdit. Both are free (PHPEdit with limitations), and both do some things better than the other. I use them both at different times, though mostly Netbeans.

I've been playing with Aptana Studio 3 (beta). Its also free (open source) and comes in Win, Mac and linux which is great if you have different platforms. You can move your files around with no problems. It has a built-in remote browser/ftp as well like Dreamweaver. Aptana Studio 2 was really slooooow and lame, however this new version is great.

It uses "Rubles" to give it extensions, there are 2 very good ones to download: Wordpress and jQuery. These two give you extra help when building your functions.php file with the specific Wordpress and jQuery function calls. (auto complete and function definitions)

I'm on Mac and so I gave both Coda and Espresso a trial run, honestly I couldn't bring myself to pay $100 for either one. Plus the code+css folding and the auto completion in Aptana is really good. It also doesn't load up your code with proprietary code and <div> and <p> tags.

This would make a great program for the Thematic community to get behind. We could create a Thematic "Ruble" with all the function calls and have them all built-in. That way everybody could have the same experience regardless of their platform. This could help out with the Thematic learning curve.

    Just a thought!
