  1. searched forum and google. cant find solution (if any?)

    is it possible for index.php and category.php to show comments in full post?
    both are set to display content 'full'.

    i'm using them to display one post only and wish to have comments displayed (as in single post).

    any ideas?

    Instead you can use a page with custom template, which you customize/style the way you want. Then set that page as static front page.

  3. thanks for the response.
    i was aware of the template route. was wondering if there was any way of using a function as i'm on a mission to avoid templates, love to try and keep things to a single functions file and stylesheet. its neato.
    its for developing a child theme for others to use.
    if i dont find workaround, templates it shall be.

    Actually, you don't need to use a custom template at all. Just put your content (you want in the post) in a page and set that page as static front page (don't forget to enable comments for this page if it's disabled) and the comments will be shown along with the page in the index page.
    I mentioned custom template because I thought you might want to change the look of it.

    I don't really get what you mean. Maybe a link to the website or screenshots would be more helpful.

  8. cant really post a link at the mo, its scatty.
    i do understand but it cant be used for this.

    each post is styled completely different to a page.
    i'm confusing myself now.

    i'll post something up when i've done a little more work and tackle comment issue then.
    plenty to be getting on with.

    if there was a function to show posts full 'inc comment thread' on category & index, i'd be a happy man

    thanks 11thinking

  9. ok, that link i mentioned

    i'm working on a video child theme.

    as you can see, both categories and index only require one post.
    i wanted those to display comments straight away (as in single post)
    using the suggested page template approach would proably sort home page but dont think i can get it work for categories.

    also, another reason i need to get comments working... the current site doesn't ajax. i have got it to use ajax so that the video's ajax load, therefore, the video list on the right doesn't refresh for each video (dont like it that way) but the ajax code i have doesn't play well with hashtags (ie #comment #respond)

    if i cant find a solution for this, i plan to direct comments direct to the service providers comments section..vimeo, youtube, etc.
    that may not be a bad idea.

  10. so, i got it to work but unsure if its correct practice

    i commented out 'comments_template();' inside my index loop

    then added this function

    function my_comments() {
        global $withcomments;
    	$withcomments = 1;
    add_action('thematic_belowcontent', 'my_comments');

    i'll file this thread under 'resolved - (i think?)'

    The theme looks great! :) But it's a little bit too wide for 1024x768 screen users like me, and most of the people () uses a 1024x768 screens, so my tip for you is to make it a little bit smaller

    Keep up the great work!

  12. thanks for the feedback. i'm a while from finishing, it was an afterthought making it wider. i'm a bugger for designing things that look good on my screen.
    i'll look into making it less wide or better still, try a fluid layout.

    working on horizontal scrolling theme at the mo. going well. i know many hate them, but simple things please simple minds (ME) "yeah, but it scrolls the other way, genius"!

    did ya solve any of ya 'moving page-title' problems?
