    Hello assorted Thematic Geniuses

I need to create 4 simple custom widgets for a project I am working on.

The widgets will live in the thematic_belowheader on the Home page
and will shift to the sidebar for the rest of the site

The Site's Administrators will need to be able to upload an image into the widgets and write/update some text.

Is there anyone would be kind enough to suggest the best approach how to go about doing this.

    Many thanks!

  2. you can sort of do that w/ the basic text widget. though you must use html code for images.

if you are determined to build your own widgets then i'd start here:

if you just need add widget areas then go here:

though you could also re-purpose some of the existing widgets with the same filter

    Hey, thanks Helga

I have not started developing this yet but I thought I better start getting some ideas together first. I will start on this next week, I think.

I will need to build something custom made as I need to assume Administrators will not have enough HTML skills to add images in.

I will start from that links you sent and take it from there.

Many thanks again and have a great weekend.

  4. Gino, check this plugin for getting more powerful functions than simple text widgets.
It makes it easier for the client to change the content in the widget since you use normal pages or posts as containers: http://www.thewebsiteaudit.com/wordpress-plugins/super-post-and-page-widget/
