    Thematic is a fantastic theme, and I have shaped and molded it into a beautiful site using a child theme.. However I just can not seem to manipulate the footer element much..

    What I would like is to change the background color of the Footer so that instead of white I have a solid color going completely from edge to edge. What is the CSS I need to call in my child theme to do this?

    #footer{
    background: #CCC;
    }

    does not seem to do anything.. What should I try?

  2. You could play with setting the width to however wide the theme is, other than that I'm not sure.

    Hope that helps!

  3. Do you have a link for me? The backgound settings are working without any further modifications.

    Chris - sure its KansasLabor.org.

    Other things on my to figure out list:

    1. How to make a solid color footer (this question)
    2.How to Remove underlines (text decoration: none;) from the tag cloud in the sidebar
    3. How to remove the "newer posts" and "older posts" link from the top of the older blog posts index pages. (Because it messes with my neat twitter element I made). The nav links at the bottom can stay for navigation.

    Any insight you have into any of those issues would be appreciated. FYI... I am using a child theme.

    Thanks,

    Jake

    Thanks!

  5. add a solid color to your footer via

    #footer{
    background: #CCC;
    }

    works fine for me.

    The tag cloud:

    #tag_cloud .aside a:active, #tag_cloud .aside a:hover {text-decoration:none;
    }

    Newer-Older posts:

    .paged #nav-above {
    display:none;
    }

    Hope it helps

  6. Hey Jake,

    could you please clean up your style.css .. your loading the thematic/style.css plus your including all separate css files once again.

    Your style.css should look like this:

    ..
    @import "../thematic/library/styles/reset.css";
    @import "../thematic/library/styles/typography.css";
    @import "../thematic/library/layouts/2c-r-fixed.css";
    @import "../thematic/library/styles/images.css";
    @import "../thematic/library/styles/default.css";
    @import "../thematic/library/styles/sitemeta.css";
    @import "../thematic/library/styles/plugins.css";
    ..

    With the images.css included you can remove the image settings listed in the default thematic/style.css.

    Drop a note if you're done with your style.css .. at the moment it is not that easy to figure out why the background settings for #footer aren't working.

    Cheers,

    Chris

    Danny -

    You rock.. That completely resolved the footer, and new older posts issue.

    Unfortunately it did not affect the tag could. I currently am using both the "configurable tag cloud" widget in the secondary aside, The div surrounding the tag cloud has it’s class set as “ctc”

    When I attempt:

    #ctc .aside a:active, #ctc .aside a:hover {text-decoration:none;
    }

    nothing appears to happen.. Just to test, I installed the normal default tag cloud widget and tried your code above which did not change anything either.. hmmmmmm.

    Chris - Thanks for your advice.. I will try to clean it up soon. As for now, Danny's code for the footer worked. Now i only struggle with the tag cloud. (Should I close this post and start a new one just on the tag cloud?)

    Thanks

  11. Hi,
    Could you help with the footer on this link http://chaibiscuit.com/igenero/wordpress/

    I would like the footer to expand horizontal to the end of the page on both sides like the MENU Bar..

    I am a beginner hence could just give me a code or something I can copy/paste :D

    Thanks

  12. arminbaig You've deleted the closing </div> on <div id="main"> and it is wrapping around your footer That's why your footer isn't stretching the entire length. Add a closing div </div> above your footer <div id="footer"> and it should fix it.

  15. I just figured that if there is less content on the page, the footer climbs up..

    I read through several forums and solutions but couldnt figure it out..
