Could someone educate me on best practices for adding my own hooks into a child theme? I can do it pretty easily, but I'm always worried about security? Ex: I've created a custom homepage and I need to add a widget area in a place that I can't use a Thematic hook. So I created a custom hook and added a widget area to it just like I would if I were using a Thematic hook. Is this the best way to do it? Like I've stated before, I'm no expert when it comes to PHP, but I've learned a lot sense I started using Thematic.
