  1. With 3.1 WP coming out, I've been mulling over a change I'd like to offer authors for my blog - custom post, as opposed to custom page templates. Precisely, I'd like to offer a full width method of presenting a post, as well as a way for an author to click on something while making a post to do that (make it fool proof, in other words).

I've seen a plugin that offers this but I always like to try to find a non-plugin way if I can. The problem is that I've seen quite a few methods in my search and I'm feeling a little confused.

So, does anyone use this already? If so, what method do you use and are you willing to share code and ideas?

thanks in advance for any help!

  2. are you referring to post-formats? thats new to 3.1 and enables to display posts differently?

  3. Yep, that would work as well :D
In my search, I've seen post-formats, post templates, contemplated body classes and a plug in, but I've seen so many things that I just don't know where to start so I was hoping that someone here had something to add that they had used that resulted in being able to provide a full-width post (as opposed to a full-width page) template, something that could be selected by an author when they are writing a post, and that wouldn't require much more (from the author side of things) than making a selection - sort of how the page template dealio works.

I'm not averse to doing the work, but I'd like to know where to go :)

  4. its defo post-formats and not custom-post-types, that you require.

its my understanding, that the thematic developer is still looking into the best practice for enabling post-formats in thematic.

  5. Thank you :)
At least that sets me in the right direction!
I'd like to keep this topic as unresolved for the moment (as I'm sure to royally mess up something at least once and require the crack Thematic Save Me! team :D
