Just in case that you're not faint of heart and already testing WordPress 2.8:
Do not try to delete a child theme using WP-Admin / Appearance - this will delete your Thematic files instead of the files it should delete.

Same happens in Wordpress 2.7 and 2.7.1 - only safe way to delete a child theme is by using an FTP client or a browser to ftp to your host server and do it via ftp commands. Unless its physically on your LAN when access via bonjour or smb or other local LAN protocols work safely outside of wordpress.
Ok .. will send a diff to the WP team to fix this in 2.7.2 if not already done.
