  1. I'm trying to use the DFLL Plugin by yjsoon. It allows your blog to work like Daring Fireball and other sites that use Linked Lists as posts. The Plugin only replaces RSS feed links - which is only half of what DF does. @gruber has his titles point to the link and places his DF Star with the permalink next to it. yjsoon has a tutorial on how to accomplish this in TwentyTen but Thematic doesn't have a loop.php and I can't find that functionality anywhere.

Can anyone tell me where I would find that loop functionality in Thematic? Does anyone have experience with the DFLL plugin and Thematic? Any help is appreciated.

I hope this is the right forum. If not, let me know.

    Thanks, in advance!

  2. sigh... all the thematic loops are in library/extensions/content-extensions.php

you'll want to create a child theme and then define a childtheme_override_index_loop() function in your functions.php. i usually start by copying the thematic_index_loop into my functions.php and then renaming it. then you are free to modify it as you will.

i've never heard of that plugin but that's pretty much how you modify anything in thematic. lots of the functions are pluggable and then there are a gazillion filters, but the overrides are more intuitive and i find people can figure them out faster.

Can someone tell me what exactly needs to be changed? I don't have the following functions in the child theme that I am using:

    - childtheme_override_postheader_posttitle
    - childtheme_override_index_loop
    - childtheme_override_single_post

I understand that I should include them in the child theme's functions.php file? What should be changed in them or what should they contain?

  4. of course they aren't in your child theme yet, you have to define them and put them there. you only need to use them if you want to change the default functions. you've resurrected a month old thread and told us exactly zero about what you are trying to accomplish. just how do you think anyone can help you with that?

    create your own thread
tell us very explicitly what you are trying to do
tell us where you are having problems
tell us what you are trying
tell us what results you are getting versus what results you expect

I am trying to use the DFLL plugin for a Thematic child theme I am working on. I thought it would be obvious but apparently not.

I have installed the plugin but I am not sure what to change/include in the three functions mentioned above. I am trying to understand how the code given on the following page can be used with Thematic.

I am looking for some help as to what goes in each of the functions.

  6. sorry, it wasn't obvious. i don't know anything about that plugin and i really can't be bothered to research it since i don't need it for anything, but if you can phrase the question to tell me more specifically what you need to achieve... i might be able to help.

the most basic way to use any of the overrides is to just copy the default function from the extensions folder, into your functions.php and rename it with the childtheme_override_ prefix. then you can hack away at it. again i have no idea what the plugin is trying to do.
