    Hi -
    Read Chris' great post here:http://programming.thematic4you.com/2010/01/how-to-use-a-different-layout-for-a-certain-page/#more-6.

Overall, it works great with one issue I can't resolve.

Under Reading Settings, I've set the Front Page Displays Static Page "Home"; and I've sent Posts Page to be "Blog".

The multi-layout tips Chris supplied for differing layouts works great.

Except that I get the 3 column-layout for the HOME and BLOG pages. When I just want it to be on the Home page and not the Blog page.

Additionally, the 3-column layout is applied to any page that I set to display POSTS.

What am I missing? Thanks for your help.

  2. check out : http://codex.wordpress.org/Conditional_Tags

if (is_home()) refers to the blog index (which is why it will apply to any page you set to display the posts... and you can only set it to one as far as i know), while if (is_front_page()) is the home page.

chris' code has some || in its if statement (which means OR) ... it is testing for either the front page or the blog index and applies the template to both. if you only want the special template to apply to the home page then remove the if(is_home()) and leave if(is_front_page()) .
