Do I need a Category or ID to alter Posts?

    Hi everybody,

    I'm struggling with post template editing. I understand how to make a template based on ID or category. However, I can't figure out how to remove hook/filter and div sections from a template in a conditional scenario.

    Furthermore, I really don't even want a conditional scenario. Ideally I would like ALL of my posts to obey a template pattern that differ from pages. The reason being is that in every single post the ID and category will be different and operated by people who know nothing about WP. So if they don't select a particular category, it could screw up the post and then they'd email me why it's screwed up. Creating a 20+ option condition to cover all ends seems like quite a band-aid.

    I'd love to just say, "Hey blog posts! All of you! Do this! No, not you Index page. Stay put!"

    I hope that makes sense. If anybody has any example, conditional or not on how to access post hooks/filters. I'd appreciate it.

    I understand the whole function statement to access action hooks:

    function my_footer($thm_footertext) {
    	$thm_footertext = 'some text';
    	return $thm_footertext;
    add_filter('thematic_footertext', 'my_footer');

    But this only works across the board for everything, not just posts.

    How does somebody go about that? I haven't even gotten to customizing sidebars. However, being able to just remove content from conditional pages would be grand.

    Thanks for reading.
