    Hello,

    After much time and many questions, I am very near completing my photo blog.

    www.timewithtimothy.com

    I am trying to see that everything is in order on different size screens. I asked my friend to send me a screenshot of my site on their 17 inch macbook pro. I designed my site on my 13 inch. On my computer, my primary nav. with my archive, about, and contact, are in line and underneath the blog title. But on my friends 17 inch screen, the #primary is too far to the left. I thought the wrapper would confine it. I tried a fixed positioning and and a margin-left:auto in my 2c-l-fixed.css file.

    Any ideas would be much appreciated, especially from those of you who have larger screens and see the problem.

    Thank you.

  2. i can see the problem, but it wasn't immediately obvious to me what the solution is. i'd probably suggest starting again w/ the default 2c-l-fixed, and modifying the main width then adjust the widths of the 2 columns to fit.

    thought it looks like you are trying to bend the markup to your will via CSS when you can easily change thematic's markup. for instance, i believe you could pursue moving the primary aside from its widget_area_primary_aside() hook to maybe in thematic_header()

    for reference:
    http://forums.themeshaper.com/topic/something-new-bout-widgetized-areas/page/2

    function kia_move_primary_aside($content) {
    $content['Primary Aside']['action_hook'] = 'thematic_header';
    $content['Primary Aside']['priority'] = 8; //so it comes after brandingclose
    return $content;
    }
    add_filter('thematic_widgetized_areas','kia_move_primary_aside');

    Thanks for all your help. It seems like every time I post a problem, you are the one to respond. I never knew vikings to be so helpful.

    I did indeed do almost everything using Firebug and CSS. I am sure there was a better, cleaner way to do things but I am not experienced enough. I will try what you have suggested, and be back. Thank you.

    I tried the move_primary_aside function. Unfortunately it didn't do the trick.

    I don't want to start over with the default 2c-l-fixed and adjust the main width because my header would get in the way (as it is now). Although perhaps I could just delete my header completely, adjust the main widths, and insert a logo in the primary? Do you think this would be faster or easier than switching to the SVN version of thematic and adding the header aside as discussed in that link you provided?

    I think I got it! I removed the header, adjusted the main width, and inserted a logo above the primary, and set the positioning of the logo and primary to fixed. Now I am just considering a better way to display the title, instead of using a logo image file because of the slightly blurry appearance of the text in the logo image.
