  1. Hello. I've posted once before and received some very helpful advice. Unfortunately, I'm only now getting around to acting on that advice. So far, after following the basic tutorial for using a child theme, I seem to be running into a problem. I freely admit that I'm a like a monkey with wrench when it comes to understanding and being able to write usable code, so if the two questions I need help with seem incredibly stupid, at least now you know why :P

    1.) I can't seem to get my Child Theme to work and instead get this error:
    Warning: file(/hsphere/local/home/laughnca/ [function.file]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /hsphere/local/home/laughnca/ on line 180

    Warning: implode() [function.implode]: Bad arguments. in /hsphere/local/home/laughnca/ on line 180

    2.) Although I appreciate the numerous sidebar options that Thematic supports, I was disappointed to learn that it doesn't offer a left hand sidebar. How do I go about adding one to my theme?

    Any help that can be provided would be most appreciated.
    Thank you!

  2. 1.) You report that WordPress can not open the style.css file located at

    That’s because it is located at — give it a try. ;)

    Just get rid of the dash (both in the directory name and on line 2 in your child’s style.css) and all should be swell.

  3. Manuel,

    As with most coding, it's the little things that kill =^_^;;= Thank you for your help. Your fix worked perfectly.

    Now if I can just get some help from someone on question 2...

  4. .. edit your style.css and exchange the line:

    @import url('../thematic/library/layouts/2c-r-fixed.css');

    @import url('../thematic/library/layouts/2c-l-fixed.css');

    and you get your sidebar on the left.

  5. Chris, if I change this will I lose the option to have the sidebar on the right? I'm not looking to just shift the sidebar to the left, but to have seperate sidebars on the both the left and the right.

    Thank you for the help btw. It is most appreciated.

  6. Then take 3c-fixed.css instead. This will give you a left and a right sidebar.

  7. That worked great, Chris. Thank you so much. Now I just have to work out which sidebars will appear on which side =^_^;;=

    Thanks again!
