    I'm building a child theme and I have an issue I can seem to resolve.

    When I have a sidebar with content longer than the "content" area, there is a gap in background color for the content area.

    Same goes if I have my sidebar in place and the content is longer than the sidebar- gap in background color.

    Here is a page that is a good example http://bit.ly/n720ut

    Thanks for any help!

  2. It is just a clearing issue.

    Add to your CSS..

    #main { overflow: hidden; }

    For more info just visit http://css-tricks.com/2833-the-css-overflow-property/ and scroll down to "Float Clearing".

  3. idk if this is no longer needed in light of scott's link, but i add

    /* =new Clearfix http://www.perishablepress.com
    -------------------------------------------------------------- */
    .clearfix:after { visibility: hidden; display: block; font-size: 0; content: " "; clear: both; height: 0; }
    * html .clearfix             { zoom: 1; } /* IE6 */
    *:first-child+html .clearfix { zoom: 1; } /* IE7 */

    to every theme i build. and add class="clearfix" to any element container floats.
