  1. Gene or Chris,

I just wrote a very comprehensive post on menus that I hope will answer many of the questions that keep coming up here on the subject. However when I post, the forums kick back an error saying that the Post cannot be found. if that is in a "queue" somewhere please don't post it as i have made a few edits since. is there a length limit?

hopefully you can figure out how i can post this so the last few hours haven't been a waste and maybe it can help someone.

    cheers,
    -helga

  2. I also have this problem sometimes. It's weird. But if I open a new browser (Safari, Chrome, etc) and log in I can generally make my post then. Perhaps it's a cookie issue.

If it is a long one, you could also post it on your own site and then link it.

  3. hi devin- well i opened up Opera and broke it into bite-sized chunks and that seems to work. i presume there is a length limit on posts here.

i need to get a site of my own up sometime soon and this might be my first post.

  4. Hi guys,

I think Askimet is seeing all the links including the ones in the code blocks and flagging the post as spam. Regardless of why, it is definitely an Askimet thing. I had it happen to me a couple of times early on.

Sorry but I don't really have a concrete fix. You could save your mega posts locally in a text editor. Break it into chunks before posting, limiting the number of links per chunk.

  6. It is Akismet. Found your posts in the queue.

  7. thought so. no need to approve it now as it is posted. wouldn't it be neat if akismet could learn who is and who is not a spammer?

anyway, even tho it might be slightly uncouth to ask you to sticky one of my own posts, I wrote it hoping it would be an easy-to-find reference since there are so many questions about menus.

sidenote- is there a way to switch the forum to using google for internal search? i think that would help people find answers that are buried w/o always needing to ask the same question over and over.
