  1. @BrightBold... really nice job on the http://flasta.org site. I'm currently designing 3 sites based on Thematic and they all look so different because of Thematic's flexibility, it's a dream to work with.

Again Kelley... really nice design! It's tasteful, classy & easy to navigate. I'm sure your client is thrilled with the result!

  2. Hi All,
I’ve been following the development of Thematic for the last few months now, which makes it pretty lame that I've never checked out the forums until now. Looks like a great community/resource from what I've been able to tell over the last few hours.

Anyways, I've just released my first Thematic specific Child Theme called Boumatic. My main goal with the design was to step away from the default Top Header, Left Content, Right Sidebar layout that comes as the default. Check it out and let me know what you think!

  3. @BrightBold... really like the http://flasta.org site. Everything fits together nicely and the colors although powerful they blend together really good!

@allancole Impressive Child Theme! I have to say I tested it with Safari for Windows and it DOES look better :-) (I don't normally enjoy all that anti-aliasing Safari adds to fonts).

  4. We are using a heavily modified Thematic Child Theme (Juction) at Indigo Clothing, a t-shirt printing blog.

I love the way Thematic and the child themes work - many thanks guys.

    Hi everyone,
I discovered Thematic and Wordpress about a month ago and have since been re-designing my site. Here's what I've got so far: www.jhelvy.com

It's a work in progress. I used the sliding doors technique for my menu to get the tabs (that one took me a little while to get). Just so you know how powerful WP and Thematic are, I didn't know any coding AT ALL when I started this about a month ago (but I do know photoshop :)) Let me know what you think!

  8. Well I have played with Thematic and followed Ian for quite a while and needed to find a new look for one of my blogs and spent or a day or so on this:

    http://www.catskillswebdesign.com/

I really like it mostly because of the framework behind it (wink). Unfortunately I didn't start out making it a child theme, which I knew I should have, I just got carried away. So that is next since at least currently I like it and having fun with typography, although a little overdone perhaps.

I added Justin Tadlock's Get the Image plugin for thumbnail images for all categories, tags, and archives. Worked great in like two minutes I had thumbnails. That's where I got lost in how to add that functionality to a child theme. I think I am getting it now, any tips would help :). Just need to hack away at it.

So only my wife so far says she likes it so I thought I would pass it by since I am a big fan of the theme.

    Thanks!

Ian, any help you could give would be greatly appreciated! I love your work, man. Keep it up!

  11. Hi all! I was using Sandbox as my theme, when I found a link to Thematic on the Sandbox Forums in Ian's signature, I decided to try it out and I love it! I made a copy of the default css in library styles and customized it for my child theme. Thank you Thematic!

  12. Hello. I just finished with my child theme, check it out here.
darleeneisms.la I'm still massaging a few things, like, for some reason, the container is off, even though it looks good. But I really love this theme. It does so much!

  25. Hello, I've just updated my personal site to Thematic (lewism.org). A child theme with only some badly hacked css at the moment but more to come. I came from sandbox which was great for css personalisation, but thematic takes it to another level with all the hooks.

  27. Hi Ian and forum-folks. Thanks for all the support. I bought Thematic Power Blog about five hours ago and I've been wrestling with it every since, looking over the forums, modifying styles.css, etc. (I love all the widget spaces, btw!)

I'm a beginner and I'm teaching myself how to work with Wordpress, PHP, CSS, etc. Can someone send me in the right direction for any getting-started tutorials specific to Thematic? Much appreciated.

    Posted 5 years ago #
  28. Well, it all depends on what you want to do. :D I suggest making a new forum topic with a few items and we can get started there.

  30. FilterJoe is my first thematic child theme. Of particular interest:

    1) It was designed with readability as the overriding goal. I've had to back off that slightly as it was interfering too much with usability (I just added underlines back to links, for instance, because some people were not noticing the links at all).

    2) This is my first time designing a theme, modifying CSS, or even running a blog - took me around 40-50 hours to do (at least 2/3 of which was learning curve related, and unfortunately done without the aid of Firebug).

    3) My second post, "Site Design for Reading" could be of interest to those who want to emphasize readability - and I'd love to get feedback about it in the comments.

I could not have accomplished what I did in such a short amount of time without the carefully thought out Thematic theme defaults, the respository of answered questions in this forum, and specific help from dannydamnboy. I am now a big fan of Thematic!

I hope to make contributions to this forum myself as I gain knowledge of CSS, Wordpress, and Thematic.

Note: BBPress is not allowing me to include my web site name in this post. It is filterjoe preceded by www and followed by com
