    Hi,
    I have been able to customize all my static pages, but cannot seem to make any alterations in my news page!

    I have customized my other pages using this code on my style.css page:

    body.slug-polaroids #main {
    width:960px;
    padding:10px 0 10px 0;
    background: #000000;
    }

    In this example, I am able to customize the "polaroids" page.

    But it does not work with my news page! I want to change the background color, add an image, etc. But all I continue to get is the same unaltered white space.

    My news page is: http://polina-such.freehostia.com/news

    Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you,
    Robert

  2. HI rlebowitz,

    It's because your news page is set to show an index of your posts. Try using .blog #main { } and don't forget that if you're wondering what body classes you can use to look at the source code of the page in question.

    Hi Gene,

    Thanks for your reply. However, I am still a little in the dark. You suggest using .blog #main {}.

    I tried this in my style.css (for example, to change the background to black):

    body.slug-blog #main {

    background: #000000;
    }

    ...but that didn't do anything. I know it is probably wrong since the slug name I assigned to the news page is 'news', not 'blog'.

    Did I misunderstand you on how to use this? I know you mention that this page is an index of my posts. But I am still confused as to where I can access it and customize it.

    Thank you again for your time and expertise!

  4. Try using exactly this:

    .blog #main {

    background: #000000;
    }

    We are using the body class to target your styles and the class .slug-blog will not exist for the main index loop page.

    if you're wondering what body classes you can use to look at the source code of the page in question.

    Gene,
    Thank you--that made a difference!
    Now I have to see if I can customize the rest of it.

    Thanks again very much,
    Robert
