  1. Hi, how exactly do I create a new widget ready area in my theme(not necessarily Thematic)?

    Thanks

  2. Hey,

the basics are described in this post: widgets in the header.

function my_widgets_init() goes into your functions.php

function my_header_widgets() goes into your functions.php if you have an action hook in your theme or the content goes into one of your theme files.

    Cheers,

  3. Thanks for the reply! I am using Chris Pearson's Copyblogger theme, and I just want to add 2 new widget areas similar to the subsidary in Thematic. The theme I am using has no php action hooks like thematic, only the normal html with php for dynamic addresses to theme files and the like. I don't really have a firm grasp of php yet, so go easy on me =)

  4. The action hook should be wp_footer() .. Give it a try.

    Cheers,

    Chris

  5. Hmm, what am I doing wrong? I pasted the code into my functions.php, and every time it said "header" I changed it to "footer". But when I clicked Update, it gave me a syntax error. It said there was an unexpected $end on the last line (the ?>).

    What did I do wrong?

    Thanks
