hi, i'm no developer, but would like to customise my thematic themes as much as possible - and i'm reasonably comfortable with adjusting php & WP files - so i'm wondering whats the best approach for me - should i use this dev version from your link or use the standard thematic theme, and make changes to that?

and what's the difference between this "DEV" version and the normal thematic theme? (sorry, i'm a bit new to the forum so if this is answered elsewhere, i apologise).

  7. Hi johnny1,

There can be only one current release version and it is located for download here:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/thematic

Meanwhile there is ongoing development to keep Thematic up to date with the WordPress release cycle as well as to introduce new functionality and/or fix bugs when they arise.

This is where the dev versions come in to play. The most recent version in development is located here:
    http://code.google.com/p/thematic/

The most recent development version often has new and experimental functionality that has not been thoroughly tested.

For all of the fearless and feature hungry users of Thematic Chris has generously provided a link to what he considers to be the most stable branch of the Thematic in development:
    http://developing.thematic4you.com/thematic-development-release/

While this version may be considered more stable that the most current development version. Anyone using it should consider themselves as testing Thematic and helping with the process of development

Thank you to all the fearless ones who help locate and smooth out the bumps so we can eventually arrive at a Current Release Version.

Anyone testing any of the the development versions who wants to get more involved with development should come and join the discussions here:

ah, ok, got ya - so does the "current" verison have all the WP3.0 functionality? and if not, do you have an eta of when this will be ready? or is it in the dev version?

  9. Hi,

WP 3.0 support is included in the stable development version.

Thematic 0.9.7.2 is sitting in the WP queue.

    Thank you.

I installed Thematic 0.9.7.2 and it added the ability to use one Wordpress 3.0 menu. The only problem is my, child links don't show up.

Is that a thematic issue, or do I have to update my child theme?

  11. having the same question, do I have to update my child theme?

    Posted 4 years ago #
  12. I don't think the WP 3.0 Menu has the drop down/child links to it. Might need to go back to the previous menu you were using if you require the drop-downs.

  13. Hi,

it supports child links but you need to set up everything by your own.
