I'm not keen on spending a lot of time fixing things for people on IE7, but I would rather like the page to open... at the moment an error message just appears...

Does anyone have any idea why this might be?

I've had someone moan to me about it for a while, and i've just confirmed it using this gizmo http://meineipadresse.de/netrenderer/index.php

    my site is http://www.salesianyouthministry.com/

I'm having a lot of people going on the site who aren't very good with computers, so it would be good to have the page at least in some way visible for those who don't even know what updating the browser even means...

Any help would be very much appreciated!!

  2. Well, I don't have a stand alone IE7 to test anymore, I did however try http://www.webpagetest.org and IE's developer IE7 mode. Both worked.

One thing I did notice though is the slow page load. Anywhere from 9-25 seconds, which could be causing issues in other ways. Check your images, there are 3 of them that are over 500kb, you might want to cut those down quite a bit. Try working through some of those load time issues, looks like quite a lot loads on the main page.

Although without a stand alone IE, I am not 100% sure its working. Maybe someone else has another way to look, or still uses multiple IE's.

I've had the same experience as ScottNix; it gets there, but takes a long time. IETester throws an abort message which I believe is related to JavaScript (and there's a lot being loaded on the site). Maybe try turning off various plugins to see if one is the culprit.

    Hope this helps...

    Hi, thanks ScottNix and kwight,

I've reduced my image sizesm but I'd had people test pages which had only the background on, so had already suspected it wasn't that.

I'll have a go at disabling plugings and see what happens!
