    I don't have much to say on this one. I've built websites before.

    What can I be doing wrong here? Relative? Absolute? What am I missing? Punctuation?

    CODE:

    function flashBanner() { ?>
    <div id="flashContent">
    			<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="625" height="325" id="Banner_7" align="middle">
    				<param name="movie" value="http://axiom-media.com/work/fdb/wp-content/themes/feelingDodgerBlue/media/Banner_7.swf" />
    				<param name="quality" value="high" />
    				<param name="bgcolor" value="#ffffff" />
    				<param name="play" value="true" />
    				<param name="loop" value="false" />
    				<param name="wmode" value="transparent" />
    				<param name="scale" value="showall" />
    				<param name="menu" value="false" />
    				<param name="devicefont" value="false" />
    				<param name="salign" value="lt" />
    				<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
    				<!--[if !IE]>-->
    				<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://axiom-media.com/work/fdb/wp-content/themes/feelingDodgerBlue/media/Banner_7.swf" width="625" height="325">
    					<param name="movie" value="http://axiom-media.com/work/fdb/wp-content/themes/feelingDodgerBlue/media/Banner_7.swf" />
    					<param name="quality" value="high" />
    					<param name="bgcolor" value="#ffffff" />
    					<param name="play" value="true" />
    					<param name="loop" value="false" />
    					<param name="wmode" value="transparent" />
    					<param name="scale" value="showall" />
    					<param name="menu" value="false" />
    					<param name="devicefont" value="false" />
    					<param name="salign" value="lt" />
    					<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
    				<!--<![endif]-->
    					<a href="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflash">
    						<img src="http://www.adobe.com/images/shared/download_buttons/get_flash_player.gif" alt="Get Adobe Flash player" />
    					</a>
    				<!--[if !IE]>-->
    				</object>
    				<!--<![endif]-->
    			</object>
    		</div>
    <?php }
    add_action('thematic_aboveindextop', 'flashBanner');

  2. your <object>s looks like they are nested?

    what if you simplify and tested the minimal html for flash movies:
    http://www.w3schools.com/flash/flash_inhtml.asp

    so this:

    function flashBanner() { ?>
    <div id="flashContent">
    <object width="550" height="400">
    <param name="movie" value="http://axiom-media.com/work/fdb/wp-content/themes/feelingDodgerBlue/media/Banner_7.swf">
    <embed src="http://axiom-media.com/work/fdb/wp-content/themes/feelingDodgerBlue/media/Banner_7.swf" width="550" height="400">
    </embed>
    </object>
    </div>
    <?php }
    add_action('thematic_aboveindextop', 'flashBanner');

    if that works though, you will know the secret and i will have to kill you.

  4. this is serious business. ;)

    additionally- i'm not sure thematic_aboveindextop is a real hook? i thought it was thematic_above_indexloop ?

    There's still a problem. I can't get it to work, but I've honed in on what it is.

    I cross-referenced a bunch of stuff on the tag side, functions and putting it raw in the parent and it just puts up a blank white square. Here is what I've found:

    When I post a plain self-contained Flash banner, it works fine.

    However, when I post my Flash unit that contains dynamic XML to an XML and images folder, it fails. So I just have a blank white Flash unit.

    The same thing happens on my local machine when I remove the image and XML folders. It's as if the Flash file can't find the XML and images folder directly below it in the folder structure.

    Mind you this same structure works just fine on my server not using WP:

    http://axiom-media.com/extras/Banner_7.html

    So there's something in WP that does not like my orthodox loading of XML into Flash. Have you run into this before? Does WP somehow copy/move my Flash file to a different location before loading/presenting the file? That would explain it because the content required in the Flash file isn't getting loaded.

    Egad, I hope this isn't something new.

    Ah!!! Found the answer!!!

    All dynamic links to external content from the Flash unit must be absolute paths!:

    Good to know!! :D

    hehe, that's what I was afraid of. I've been bouncing around 3 forums this week and two of them deal with esoteric product questions involving either WP or LoaderMax.

    thematic_abovecontent was the final hook I chose because it's measurements go outside the entire #content's props.

    Know we know! Dynamic Flash content requires absolute URL linking.

    Thanks anyway! :D
