  1. I've copied files and database from a working WP 2.9 hosted installation to my local machine, and I am using XAMPP to produce the Apache/MySQL environment. I have another site running on this machine using the same environment, so we can rule XAMPP out as the problem.

I have used phpMyAdmin to change wp-options table for siteurl and home fields, both reading, "http://localhost/assets".

When I put the URL in the browser, http://localhost/assets (same as in database), all I get is the error message "Warning: require_once(D:\public_html\assets/wp-content/themes/thematic/library/extensions/header-extensions.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in D:\public_html\assets\wp-content\themes\thematic\functions.php on line 44." Yet the file is there.

Can anyone help me figure what is wrong, please?

    Thanks

  2. I forgot to add that I'm using a child theme and Thematic 0.9.6.2. The online site is at http://www.peterwade.com/assets/

  3. try loading up the blog with the theme directory empty aside from the default theme 2010.

If the theme is the only issue, you should have access to the backend.

Its usually fixed by just cranking up the blog without a theme, it'll load up the default theme, then i re-add and reapply my custom theme and things behave.

  4. Thanks, tarpontech. At least I got the Default 1.6 theme and Classic 1.5 working under WP 2.9. I have removed all plugins. However, when I select my posword2010 theme or Thematic (both direct copies of the working online installation) all I get is the white screen. It's not logical! I have recopied by FTP my theme but it produces the same result. So I'm stuck again.

  5. Hi Peter-

This is likely a file permissions issue with your localhost set-up. Compare the permissions of the Classic theme directory and files to the Thematic and childtheme permissions. Adjust the permissions of the non working themes to reflect those of the working ones.

  6. Thanks, Gene. I'm running XAMPP under Windows 7 and I understood that permissions is only relevant for *nix based systems. I have no idea how to set them under Windows. When I look in the Properties of the theme folders they all appear to be the same.

I have since been able to get up another free theme off the web, so I am more mystified than usual!

Once upon a time, when I was a Windoze user, I had a conflict between Skype and XAMPP re ports. Just a thought.

And yes, Windoze has no permissions like *nix.
