    Wow, I managed to do some coding for my website yesterday.

    First, the website is Currently it is running the beginning of my clone of Manifesto:

    which is quite a stunningly simple WP layout.

    Second, the "ABOUT ARCHIVES LINKS" menu is a custom menu, called as a function in functions.php and changeable in WP using the Menus menu.

    Third, the menu is centered. I had almost no end of problems getting this to work, and the forums seemed to suggest that it could not be done. It works fine on Safari on Mac, Chrome on Mac and Windoze, and IE8!

    If anyone wants to check my code, they are most welcome as I am no expert at this stuff.

    Some of my css is here:

    #menu-custom-menu { /* want to make custom menu centered, but not working so far */
    margin:0px auto;
    border-top:1px solid #EAEAEA;
    border-bottom:1px solid #EAEAEA;

    #menu-custom-menu li { /* Set the custom menu list to horizontal -- nice!!! */
    padding:0 10px 0 9px;

    #menu-custom-menu li a { /* remove underline */

    #menu-custom-menu li a:hover { /* remove underline */

    and the functions.php function:

    // Remove Thematic Access
    function remove_thematic_actions() {

    function my_menu() { /* display the custom menu -- struth, it works!!! */
    wp_nav_menu( array('menu' => 'Custom Menu' ));
    add_action('thematic_header', 'my_menu', 9);

  2. I'm a big fan of simplicity, too bad I can't seem to do anything the doesn't end up being busy and over-complicated. Nice start!

    Yeah, many sites are cluttered and messy. I actually think that thematic out-of-the-box is actually pretty nice and clean.

    As an aside, I just discovered CSSEdit for Mac and am wondering why I have spent so much time hand-coding CSS when it appears it can be done a lot easier.
