  1. Hello, absolutely blown away by this theme btw.

    So, I've been working with the menu and I'm having this annoying problem. Every time I click one of the menu items to load a page, the menu item briefly turns white. I guess you have to see for yourself. www.jesselocke.me

    Here's my CSS:

    .sf-menu a, .sf-menu {
    border: 0;
    }

    .sf-menu a, .sf-menu a:visited{
    color: white;
    }

    .sf-menu li {
    background-color:#262626;
    }

    .sf-menu li a:hover{
    color:red;
    background-color:#262626;
    }

    sf-menu li a:active {
    background-color:#5e76aa;
    }

    Any advice would be great

    Thanks

    Hi,

    There is a .sf-menu li item in default.css that is setting it white.

    I can't be sure but I suspect it has something to do with the use of @import and the order that you are importing the files. Perhaps the content of style.css is being ignored while plugins.css is being downloaded?

    Perhaps if you copy default.css in to style.css and modify it there, you can solve the problem.

    Regards

  3. Hey thanks for the suggestions ianhobson. Here's what I did:

    Changed (in /library/styles/default.css) all instances relating to anything to do with the menu bring #fff too #262626. Its not doing anything.
    I have a feeling it has something @import, but i cant pinpoint it.

    I'm going to keep playing around with it until it works, i'll post the answer incase someday someone else has this problem.

    Any suggestions would be great

    Hi-
    I'm having the same issue - when I click a menu item to load a page, the menu item briefly turns white - just like you said.

    Were you able to pinpoint the cause of the problem? My CSS is a little shaky, and I've been messing around with styling the menu for a while. I am trying to get the button images to appear (using the "sliding doors" method.)

    Any insight you might have would be a great help!

    oh here's the development url: http://omidev.osu.edu

    Thanks!

  5. @orion- i dont see the problem you are referring to. which menu is it in? also don't follow the OP's advice of editing the css in the thematic folder. use your child theme's stylesheet.

    @Helgatheviking

    Thanks so much for the reply! That's good advice to edit only the style.css file in my child theme. I love the concept of child themes and the idea of staying out of those core files.

    My problem still persists. Let me try to explain where I see it, maybe you know a quick fix!

    If you visit the main page, then you're on the "Welcome!" page. http://omidev.osu.edu

    When you hover over any menu item, you should see a button graphic.

    Click any menu item, but instead of keeping your mouse steady, move it quickly off your selected link, before the page loads. (So click an item, then hover "OFF" the item while it loads the page.)

    Something there is turning the newly selected link -white- without my permission. Heh.

    Actually, it's only because I'm not sure how to tell it to quit doing that. :) Since it's while the page loads a new link, I have trouble using firebug to help me isolate the problem.

    Thanks again for all the help on these forums - I really love the Thematic, because of the awesome community support.

  7. Mandy,

    well i now know atleast what is causing the problem, but I am afraid I don't know the fix. It definitely related to your sliding doors... the bigger of the 2 graphics is applied to a list element

  8. so while it is loading it doesn't have the current_page_item class or hover class that provides the background graphic... and so is white. This might be a bug in sliding doors.

    I did sliding doors some years ago and I never noticed before, but you can still see that if you move the cursor while the page is loading, it loses the hover color. I would look around some more sliding doors tuts for a solution... or maybe someone more brilliant will know the answer. Sorry I can't be of more help.
