My Meta widget (for log-in, admin, feeds, etc.) on the sidebar has disappeared. It was there this morning, but I've done something to make it go away and I don't know what. Here are things I have tried:

    1. I restarted my browser...meta widget still missing.

    2. I clicked on "reset widgets" under Appearance > Thematic Options. Back on the Widgets page I've been able to add other widgets like "search" and "categories" back into the primary and secondary aside areas. I tried dragging and dropping the meta widget into various aside sections (testing each time separately). It looks like widget is in place correctly, but when I go to view the page, it's not there. The other widgets show up, and the only widget that won't appear is the meta widget.

Can anyone help me figure out how to get the Meta widget to work again? I'm a newbie, but I can usually solve a problem if I get some specifics on where to look for things. And I'm brillant at copying and pasting! Also, I am using a customized child theme, but (at least until today) that doesn't seem to be the cause of this issue.

  2. Did it disappear when you changed the theme? If so, activate your old theme and see if it's in the sidebar. If so remove it.
If that doesn't work check out this post.

I did not change my theme, but I tried manually resetting the widgets using the code from the link above. I successfully reset the widgets but I still have the same problem:

Meta widget dragged + dropped on sidebar...looks like it will be activated....but when I visit the site it does not appear in the sidebar.

Okay, I may have misunderstood your suggestion. I just activated the Wordpress default theme for my site and the Meta widget was there in the sidebar. I went back to my theme by reactivating my Child theme (of Thematic) and the Meta widget was appearing again! I still don't know why this happened, but this was an easy way to fix it.

    Thank you for your help!
