Wouldn't it be nice to have Themeshaper Forums legible from your phone?! A mobile theme would be ideal, IMO. Or, we could just make the layout responsive.
I can't help on the current project of modernizing the code for Thematic but I know I could write one of those two options for this bbpress site, at least one good enough for y'all to proofread. It would be a fun and constructive public project, and maybe instructive for others too. I hereby volunteer.
What I'd do is test it on a sandboxed site and someone with the keys to the kingdom could then make the necessary transfers of theme and plugin.
