  2. There is a problem with your JS files. You are using MooTools and jQuery together an dtehre is a problem of compatibility with the function ($) symbol. Without a deep analisys of your code is impossible for me to help you. First, try to remove every plugin that uses MooTools and check if the problem is still there. Let us informed.

    Aljiro,

    Try out featurific. It does the same work, has great features too. I also got stuck with FCG in the new version of Thematic. Featurific is working fine and wonderful.

    PS- You will have to manually configure the size etc in the xml file.

    best,
    him

    Thanks.

  9. There's one last thing you could try: Using jQuery with other Libraries

    This is one major reason why the Featured Content Gallery is not working with jQuery Plugins .. anyway .. the easiest way for the masses would be to put everything into an iFrame. But iePlexus never reacted on this request.

    Cheers,

    Chris

    Hi Chris. Thanks for the heads up. However Im kind of a newbie and don't know where to put the jQuery.noConflict() thing. Please do help me. What part of the theme will I put it in? In Index.php?

    Regards,
    Aljiro

  11. Aljiro, add the following code to your child theme's functions.php:

    function childtheme_jquery() {
    ?>

       <script type="text/javascript">
         jQuery.noConflict();
       </script>

    <?php
    }
    add_action('wp_head', childtheme_jquery);

    The report I saw 'bout FCG and jQuery said that this would be enough.
    Cheers,

    Chris

    An error showed up when trying to save child theme's function.php btw I was editing from wordpress.

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '}' in /home/aljiro/public_html/wp-content/themes/byty/functions.php on line 24

    Thanks for the time.

    edit. I edited the file locally then uploaded via ftp. With the changes my site is not accesible with the same error above...

    Please help.

    Thank you my friend.

  15. I just had the same problem getting Featured Content Gallery to work with jQuery powered plugins. If anyone still needs help with this - I wrote a blog post on how I solved this on my own site.

    Hey yahyaayob/everyone,

    How did you get Featured Content Gallery to work? Where do you add this piece of code?
    <?php include (ABSPATH . '/wp-content/plugins/featured-content-gallery/gallery.php'); ?>

    I want to add the gallery to #container above the rest of the posts.

    Thanks!

    Hi

    Yes I did try this. This is what my function.php looks like:

    /*
    *
    * Add the image gallery
    *
    */
    function remove_featured_gallery_scripts() {
           remove_action('wp_head', 'gallery_styles');
    }

    add_action('init','remove_featured_gallery_scripts', 1);

    function addscripts_featured_gallery() {
    	if(!function_exists(gallery_styles)) return;
    	gallery_styles();
    }
    add_action('wp_head', 'addscripts_featured_gallery', 12);

    function add_image_gallery(){
    	include (ABSPATH . '/wp-content/plugins/featured-content-gallery/gallery.php');
    }
    add_action('thematic_above_indexloop','add_image_gallery',0);

    /*
    *
    * Show only posts marked as 'front' category to show on the homepage
    *
    */
    function only_front_posts() {
    	if(is_home()|| is_front_page()) {
    		query_posts ($query_string . '&cat=101');
    	}
    }
    add_action('thematic_indexloop','only_front_posts',3);

    The gallery appears as a big black border of box but my posts disappear from only_front_posts(). If I comment out add_image_gallery() then my posts appear. I don't know what I am doing wrong.

    Thanks for you help.

    3 hours later... no progress on my end. I still get an empty black box with my "featured posts" title below the box instead of inside the box. Also my post from only_front_posts() are still missing.

    Please help!

    After many many hours... I figured out my problem. My server did not support short php tag, which is used in this plugin. So I had to edit my php.ini file to turn it on. Now it all works in perfect harmony.

    I hope this tip helps other people stuck on such an issue.

  22. Hi Jane,

    I'm glad you figured that out. I was testing it locally and having difficulty reproducing your problem. I'll never understand why people will share scripts to the WordPress Community with PHP short tags. Especially given how widely distributed WordPress is on inexpensive shared hosts with little control over the server configuration.

    Anyone running into the same problem who doesn't have access to the php.ini can simply open:

    featured-content-gallery>scripts>jd.gallery.js.php

    And search for all instances of <?= and replace it with <?php echo

    Hi

    I tried to post this question on maxchirkovs original post, but the site is not allowing comments. Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on this as it sounds like eastjane got this to work with her other jquery plugins this way. I am using SutdioPress which has FCG and it is conflicting with some lightbox functionality.

    In step #2 of his tutorial, where do I need to replace the posts with get_the_ID() function?

    I am a bit new & am just looking for more details about where I need to go to replace this.

    Thanks for any help or advice.
