I am facing an unsolvable problem. I need help.
My previous and next link ( posts, pages navigation ) are going on the opposite way :
when i click Previous post it goes to the next post and vice-versa.
    Same for page navigation.

  2. @Bluesky: Are you using the default Thematic childtheme that's bundled with the download?

I use all files from the tutorial / Theme Tutorial Project available at

  4. @Bluesky: Unfortunately the Theme tutorial isn't related to Thematic, as it is a standalone theme.

Initially I thought it might have something to do with e.g. Lines 8 and 9 and Lines 53/54 for index.php (amongst others), but going by the Codex documentation for previous_posts_link (shows newer posts) and next_posts_link (shows older posts), this does seem to be correct:

    <div class="nav-previous"><?php next_posts_link(__( '<span class="meta-nav">&laquo;</span> Older posts', 'your-theme' )) ?></div>
    <div class="nav-next"><?php previous_posts_link(__( 'Newer posts <span class="meta-nav">&raquo;</span>', 'your-theme' )) ?></div>

Maybe it will be easier if we can see an active site?

Well, I checked this part too, but I was unsuccessful. Beyond, I am a very beginner in Php, it is my first job of this kind.
I send you the link. It is in Beta with Just 3 posts imported from the blog hosted by

  6. @Bluesky: That's a very nice site you've got there. Thanks for the link, I've just taken a look and if I go to what seems to be your most recent post:

I can click on "Récif en forme de coeur aux Maldives" to view your previous post.

And then when I am on Récif en forme de coeur aux Maldives, I can click on "Maldives, Meilleures Plongées au Monde" for your most recent post, or "Le Meilleur Spa au Monde est aux Maldives" for post before that, so it seems to be working ok for me?

Sorry to come back that fast, but I see that you might need more infos to understand.
Click better on the following single post link :
You will see up the navigation in Gold color.
The present post is dated with 22 March 2010
If you click on the golden link to previous post title you will see that instead of going to earlier date, you go to a older dated post with March 18th.

The same non-sense applies to next link post that goes to newer post.
Does it make more sense ?

  9. @BlueSky: Thanks for editing the links into English. I can't seem to view your site at the moment though due to this error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '{' in E:\inetpub\vhosts\\httpdocs\blog-des-maldives\wp-content\themes\Reves-des-Maldives\functions.php on line 6

p/s: I'm a little bit confused - for me, a post dated '18th March 2010' (e.g. Post 1) is older than '22nd March 2010' (e.g. Post 2), so it makes sense that Post 1 is the 'Previous Post' of Post 2?

    Hello again.
I am so sorry for this. I could not fix it. I messed up with the function.php file and could not access my blog anymore.
    Well it is restored !!!!
Indeed navigation looks ok now when you are on a single post.
    BUT...Yes, there is a but.
On the home page of the blog , when you click on OLDER POST, the page is not found.:
    The page cannot be found
The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
I also tried to install the great plugin with pages ( check on the blog...) and pages can not be found to.

I don't know what to do anymore :-(
Thank you so much for your help !

  11. @Bluesky: Good job on restoring your website! I've had functions.php issues a lot so can really sympathise.

Re: your issue with the older post link, I think it might be something to do with the Permalinks needing to be updated/modified. (Here is a link to another guide about Permalinks)

Do you think you can try clicking on "Permalinks" in your WP-admin panel, and then clicking on "Save Changes"? I find that helps sometimes.

Hi again ! a new day is starting hoping I'll solve this ...
Well I tried yesterday to change the permalinks but whatever I did i could not access my blog anymore ( page not found !)

I'll go on now and see. I will inform you.
    Cheers ,

I think it has to do with my .ht.access file that I apparently do not have. I will search.
    The quest is going on...

  14. @Bluesky: Good luck! Unfortunately your site is showing up as a white page for me too.

p/s: Perhaps you can try viewing the 'error_log' file via FTP for your site? It usually lists some of the more fatal errors.

  15. @bluesky- is that the blog you are referencing? I ask, b/c I don't get anywhere when I click on the above link, but arrive at this site when I click on the Blog link on your home page.

The previous and next arrows seem to be moving in the proper date direction to me. The biggest problem I have with your site is that it has all those gorgeous pictures of the Maldives and I am too broke to go. Pure evil.
