  1. I would like to make a page template or edit an existing template to not have a sidebar. I know the CSS to remove the sidebar from a specific page, but I need several pages to be sidebarless, and I don't want to edit the style sheet every time I add a new one.

    Is there a way to edit say, my "Links Page" template so there is no sidebar and instead I have one big content area? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  2. I'm looking for the exact same thing.

    I can see that Theme Hybrid has a full-width/no sidebars page template, and I'm thinking of jumping ship to get it. However, having spent some time learning where everything is within Thematic, I'd rather find a solution here if possible...

  3. If you want you can download my Early Morning child theme.

    Inside it you will find the tpl_onecolum.php file. That is the one column page template that will work out of the box with thematic and most child themes that are built upon it.

    You will also need some css to make it work:

    .page-template-tpl_onecolum-php #content { width: 900px;}

    You can add that in your style.css

  4. So if I understand this right, the template calls the correct elements to appear on the page, and doesn't call the sidebars?

    Can I rename the template?

    Can I change the width of the single column to fit in with my theme - I want the main content area to be 940-ish across.

    So, if I call the template nosidebars.php, then I change the css to

    .page-template-nosidebars.php #content {width: 940px;}

    Sound okay? And thanks!

  5. This isnt' working, grr.

    The sidebars aren't present, but I can't seem to increse the width of the column. The overflow is hidden.

    I spotted the error in my css - nosidebars-php, and the code I've used matched the class coming up in the source code, so that looks okay.

    Both container and content had smaller values for width, so I changed both of those using the template class, but it's still not working.

    Any ideas?

  6. Ha! fixed it. I had forgotten to enable theme test drive, so wasn't seeing my changes.

    Hey there sareiodata,

    Sorry if this is a bit obvious, where in the style.css do I paste your code?
    I have tried pasting it all over the doc and no luck.

    (PS: I tried pasting your code in my child theme's style.css doc - not the themeshaper's style.css doc - Correct?)
