    I have included the PageNavi plugin on my blog using a child theme of Thematic, but it is appearing twice, once above and once below the footer. I tried using Ian's suggested code for footer.php here: http://themeshaper.com/how-to-build-wp-pagenavi-into-your-wordpress-theme/

    I then used the code suggested by the Plugin website here: http://lesterchan.net/wordpress/readme/wp-pagenavi.html. But the problem has persisted.

    I looked through the plugin forum and a post by somebody who was having the same problem came to the conclusion that the user ask the theme author where best to put the code for the plugin to work. Here is the post: http://forums.lesterchan.net/index.php/topic,1777.0.html

  2. You do not need to edit any template files to use WP-PageNavi with Thematic. The plugin calls are built into the theme. Simply install and activate the plugin. WP-PageNavi will automatically replace the standard navigation.

  4. I recently got the same problem (feature?!!), nav in both locations. The solution i found was to put in child's functions.php this line:
    function childtheme_override_nav_above() {return FALSE;}

  5. thematic hides the top navigation via CSS so it makes sense that pagenavi would show up at the top hook as well.

    i usually use

    /* Remove Thematic_Above_Navigation */
    function remove_nav(){
    	remove_action('thematic_navigation_above', 'thematic_nav_above', 2);
    }
    add_action('init', 'remove_nav');

    but i like @atelierelealbe's solution for being shorter.
