I want to put a Google adsense banner in my header, after I followed the below tutorial I was able to get a banner to show up in the header of thematic.

    http://forums.themeshaper.com/topic/add-script-to-header#post-3935

The problem is that the banner is positioned all the way up top, and I want it be positioned below the blog title, I have absolutely no idea how to do this because I don't really know all that much about css or php.

But I figured that the functions can be used as action hooks to place something in a certain part of the theme, but how would I go about positioning something more accurately as described above?

Would this require a code in the functions.php in the child them or do I need to edit the css file?

If so, what code should I use and where should I use it?

I'm looking to do the same thing.

How do you give the example above a div class so it can be styled?

  3. I have not done this, but I probably would attack it by adding a widget area to the header... and using one of the many Adsense plugins available for WP to drop an Adsense widget into the area. Then you should be able to style the widget location however you want.

here is the post on creating a header widget:

Putting it on hook 8 like in the example will create your widget area underneath the #branding div (with the site title and description) but before the #access div.

This link provides an amazing visual of where all the hooks are in the thematic layout
