  1. If I want three columns in each blog post, say:

    a) a date in the left column/div
    b) main content, comment links, etc., in the middle column/div
    c) other info in the third column/div

    How would I set this up in Thematic? Would I have to create new areas within the post or is it possible at the start?

  2. You will have to mess about with the thematic code to do this.

    Using firebug look at the structure of a post. It is

    <div post>
       Title
       <div entry-meta>  - date etc..
       <div entry-content> - post content
       <div entry-utility> - comments etc...

    you could use css to define widths etc... & float stuff left, but you would need a container div around the entry-content & the entry-utility and then you will need to insert a container for your other-info.

    So you will need to filter or override several functions to achieve this.

    So look through the file /wp-content/themes/thematic/library/extensions/content-extensions.php and locate all the functions that create the various bits of the post.

    If you want this design to appear on index (multiple post pages) you'll probably need to override the loop functions (using the latest version of thematic - 0.9.7.7) to customise the content and the thematic_belowpost() function to add your other-info

    I'm no expert, but you might be after doing this though ;)
