  1. Hello - I have been wondering about the fact that the Thematic div layout is hard wired as default.

Does anyone have issues working around this when trying to come up with custom layouts that may not be compatible?

For instance I'm quite fond of the cross browser compatible equal height columns styles developed by Matthew James Taylor:

I have found a way of making it work in Thematic but this involves adding extra divs via Thematic hooks. Though this approach is successful it is frustrating that I have to fit my css naming scheme around Thematic's rather than the other way round.

Would it make sense to make certain divs within the default template filterable (or perhaps this is possible already)?

    Best Wishes

  2. Sorry to bump this - I'm just interested to see what anyone might think or if there is an approach to layouts in Thematic that I don't know about.

    Cheers

  3. very interesting question. i'd be interested in seeing if thematic could go with a liquid layout.

  4. The attraction of the CSS technique detailed above is that it allows equal height columns.

I know that it is a borderline case of "divitis" but my example begs the question that there may be cases when the hard wired div structure is inappropriate.

In this example it forces me to use class and id names that are not necessarily very helpful semantically.

Perhaps this is a minor point (I have managed to get it to work for me after all - and as a fluid layout BTW helgatheviking) but I can't see any reason why certain existing div elements in Thematic couldn't be more customisable.
