    OMG! I solved it by myself by changing line 422 @ content-extensions.php

  3. Hi,

    please do not change any Thematic core files. We can't support these changes and you would loose all changes with the next update / upgrade of Thematic. Use a child theme instead.

  4. I am also interested in making this change, and I do use a child theme. So, would I change my child theme's style sheet, or would I add something to my functions.php file? I spent time on the wordpress forums, and they mostly referred to making a php change, something about changing "excerpt" to "content" somewhere -- but I don't think that information was useful for those of us using child themes.

    I asked on this forum a year ago, and Ian mentioned that there are plugins to do this, but I haven't found them.

    Can you explain what the change is that you're trying to make. The original poster's question is a bit unclear to me.

  6. Hi, Gene --

    The change I'd like to make is this:

    Currently, if a reader clicks on a category item or if they search for something, they are taken to a page full of excerpts. No images. No "Read More" links. In order to see a full post, they have to click on the title of the excerpted, image-less post.

    Not all readers are going to be savvy enough to know they have to click on the title to read the full post. I didn't know it myself until I dug around in forums. And to make matters even more confusing for the reader, if you write your own excerpts, there isn't even a little three-dot clue that the reader isn't seeing the whole post. It looks to the reader as if the entire blog post which they searched for is simply that short excerpt which you wrote.

    At this point, if I stay with Thematic, I feel like I have to go back and change the excerpt for every single blog post to "Click on title to read this post." Which would suck for SEO.

    What I (and, I think, the original poster here) would like is to change our blogs so that if a reader clicks on a category, they are taken to a page with the full posts (including images) of things in that category. And the same with the "search" results.

    Any suggestions? And thanks for your response.

    If you decide that you want to add the read more functionality to excerpts look at Chris's comment in this discussion:

    If you want to show full posts on the search and cat archives add this to you child theme's functions.php

    function childtheme_content($content) {
    	if (is_category() || is_search()) {
    		$content= 'full';}
    	return $content;
    add_filter('thematic_content', 'childtheme_content');

    Hope you find this helpfull :)
