Remove a category from the category list on the sidebar

    I would like to remove a category from the category list in the sidebar.

    I am currently using a plug-in for that, but I need to achieve that using just code

    I have looked everywhere but I am not able to find the code to modify

    Any suggestion will be appreciated

    I'd like to know how to do this too. I've looked everywhere as well, but can only find suggestions to use a plugin. I'm looking for a function to drop into functions.php
