  1. I've been thoroughly impressed with the Thematic Featuresite child theme, and have worked my way through modifications successfully so far. I can't, however, figure out how to remove the blog title from the leader (which displays on the main blog page).

    Having a post title appear in this fluid block is great; it's just having the blog title appear that's unnecessary for my own usage.

    Any pointers appreciated – I'm new to this, and am trying to learn as I go along!

  2. Hi,

    .blog #leader {display:none;}

    to your child theme's style.css.

    Having the same issue. I tried this code in my style.css and it still will not remove it. I'm using Power Blog though. I'm wanting to remove the Blog Title/Description and have the header image come up so it isn't bumped far down from the top.

    Solved the problem. Added the function in functions.php

    // Removes Blog Description from Title
    function no_blogdescription() {
    add_action('init', 'no_blogdescription');
    // Removes Blog Name from Title
    function no_blogtitle() {
    add_action('init', 'no_blogtitle');

  5. A follow up question, if I could:

    The code Chris provided to add to my style.css did the trick, however I've recently discovered that the blog title reappears on certain pages within the site (i.e. if I click on 'Archives' or 'Categories').

    I assume I just replace .blog with the appropriate indicator, only I'm stumped as to what this should be! For instance, what should I use instead of .blog to hide the leader on the 'About' page?

    Apologies for my cluelessness. An explanation of where .blog actually comes from would be helpful in refining this.

  6. If you want it to disappear completely then remove the .blog before #leader {display: none;}, this will then hide it on all pages.

    #leader {
    display: none;

  7. I need to control the appearance of the #leader a little more specifically than that; removing .blog and thus masking it on all pages means the randomised front page block (included with Thematic Feature Site), or the page title of a blog entry remain hidden (two elements I want to appear).

  8. Allright Chris! Had the same problem, now solved. I'm fairly new to all this. Pretty exciting theme.

    I use this so that its off the page, but still actually there. I've seen other people do this and I assume its so that nice H1 title still shows up for search engines.

    #blog-title {
    position: absolute;
    left: -5000px; }

  10. I'm really new to this and I really want to remove the blog description, I've tried all the above in my Child Theme and I keep getting this Warning:

    Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/danielae/public_html/wp-content/themes/danielastheme/functions.php:40) in /home/danielae/public_html/wp-admin/theme-editor.php on line 99

    Can anyone please clarify for me.
