    I am new to WP and Thematic (and learning php as I need to).

    Have downloaded MAMP and installed WP locally to learn/test. I have installed a test child theme ('Awesome') and I have two files in that folder (function.php and stylesheet.css)

    How do I remove the list of Pages that appear in the Sidebar? I want the Pages to appear in the MENU only.
    I was able to get the results that I wanted by commenting the following code in the sidebar.php file. What is the recommended way of getting this result/using the child theme

    <li id="pages">
    <h3><?php _e('Pages', 'thematic') ?></h3>

      <?php wp_list_pages('title_li=&sort_column=post_title' ) ?>

  2. Hey and welcome on board,

    Thematic comes with a couple of pre-configured 'widgets' for Primary and Secondary Aside. These will stay there as long as you don't configure at least one widget for Primary and / or Secondary Aside under WP-Admin / Appearance / Widgets.

    If you want to remove the Page List, go to WP-Admin / Appearance / Widgets and add Search, Categories and Archives to Primary Aside.

    Let me know if you need more help.

    Cheers,

    Chris

    Chris,

    Thanks a lot for the prompt reply. Used the widgets as you described and it worked.

    On removal of side bar content:

    CSS seems less intrusive, but I do have a question on the topic.

    I removed the sidebar by CSS -- .aside { display:none; }.

    I am wondering if such a method is okay or might the one described above be more or less preferred?

    Thanks.
