Since the term "meta" means nothing to most of those logging into my blog, where and/or how can I replace that term?

(By the way, I have just found your thematic and this forum. I am hugely impressed with both the product and the service you provide.)

  2. Hey and welcome on board,

the classic sidebar has two areas: Primary Aside and Secondary Aside. If you don't define any widgets for these both areas, Thematic will come up with a couple of predefined standard widgets. As soon as you define at least one widget for an area all predefined widgets in this area are gone except the one you defined.

The Secondary Aside comes up with Links, RSS Links and Meta. To get rid of the Meta link you go to the admin page / Appearance / Widgets .. choose Secondary Aside .. <show> .. choose the Links and the RSS Links widget .. <Save Changes> .. and the Meta link is gone :-)

    Cheers,

    Chris

I don't want to get rid of the Meta widget but want to change the word "Meta" to something like "Register or Login". I've tried changing it in a couple of places but with no effect.

  4. Sorry .. don't know where I had my head while reading your post. Let me see if I can do some magic without changing the code.

  5. Ok .. let's do some magic .. have you ever worked with POedit? If yes .. create an en_EN.po from the thematic.pot. This file can now be 'translated', means you can change 'Meta' to whatever you want without changing a single line of code. Copy the en_EN.po to languages .. that's it.

If not .. let me know what you would like to see instead of 'Meta', send an email to chris (at) wupperpiraten (dot) de, I'll change the file, send it over to you, you copy the file to the languages directory .. that's it.

    Magic tested and approved :-)

    Cheers,

    Chris

How can I do this for the Blogroll widget? I tried to find the Blogroll text in thematic.pot and didn't see it.

  9. Hey,

you don't need to do anything with your Links Widget .. Blogroll is the name for the standard link category .. Go to WP-Admin / Links / Link Categorie and edit Blogroll.

    Cheers,

    Chris

No wonder I couldn't find it in the translations. My face is red. :-)

Thanks for your help and your restraint in not telling me how silly I was!

Can you explain a little more about altering the "Meta" title text on the sidebar widget? I also want to change it to say "Register or Log In/Out" instead of "meta." I'm also hoping to change the "Site Admin" link to say "My Profile" instead for Subscriber-level users. Is this also possible? Thanks! B.B.
