    I am using the feature-site theme and the main-aside sidebar is being placed under the content on some of my pages and not at all on others.
    Also, the problem shows up on different pages in Safari and Firefox.

    You can see the problem here in safari:
    and here in Firefox:

    I am having a similar problem - and have surmised that the issue lies in the widths of the content/container/primary_asides divs. However, I noticed that #primary_asides div sits inside the #main div on the single post page, but it sits outside the #main div on the index.php page.

    How can I change it so that it always sits oustide the #main div? I've got the sidebar positioned the way I want it on the index page, but on the inside pages, it falls below all the content rather than sitting to the right.

    I'm a total newbie with wordpress, but do have some css experience. Thanks!

    the page can be viewed here:

  4. Hi jmbroekman-

    I think you have an extra closing</div> inside your content that is closing #main too early. #primary needs to be inside #main

    Aside from that you have a lot of overlapping styles in your style.css that are making matters complicated. If I were debugging it I'd try dealing with validation errors first and then regress back to thematics styles and work forward again.

    Hope it helps some

    Hi Gene:
    Thank you so much for your help. I migrated a static html page into the blog, and must have copied an extra closing div into an entry. UGH.

    One question I have, and forgive my ignorance, how can I make sure that there is a valid doctype in the header? The header.php file has this line:
    <?php thematic_create_doctype(); echo " "; language_attributes(); echo ">\n";?>
    but, when I look at the header in the actual pages on-line there doesn't appear to be a doctype (and thus I'm not sure how to validate the html code).

    Thanks again for your help.

  6. What you're seeing in the header are thematic php functions. If you look at the bowser source of your page you'll see the doctype. thematic outputs a xhtml transitional doctype by default.
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "">
