  1. Hi,

    I recently started a blog using Thematic. I now have a problem.

    Look at www.joakimsebring.com/blog and then click at any single post. Notice how the sidebar goes from being at the side to being under the post but above the comment section.

    Why does this happen? (I have tried both IE and Firefox and get the same result in both.)

    Any help welcomed!

    Joakim

  2. Did you edit single.php?

    Posted 10 years ago #
  3. No. At least not that I am aware of. My single.php looks like this:

    <?php
    global $options;
    foreach ($options as $value) {
    if (get_settings( $value['id'] ) === FALSE) { $$value['id'] = $value['std']; }
    else { $$value['id'] = get_settings( $value['id'] ); }
    }
    ?>
    <?php get_header() ?>

    <div id="container">
    <div id="content">

    <?php the_post(); ?>
    <div id="nav-above" class="navigation">
    <div class="nav-previous"><?php previous_post_link('%link', '<span class="meta-nav">«</span> %title') ?></div>
    <div class="nav-next"><?php next_post_link('%link', '%title <span class="meta-nav">»</span>') ?></div>
    </div>

    <?php get_sidebar('single-top') ?>

    <div id="post-<?php the_ID(); ?>" class="<?php sandbox_post_class(); ?>">
    <?php thematic_postheader(); ?>
    <div class="entry-content">
    <?php the_content(''.__('Read More <span class="meta-nav">»</span>', 'thematic').''); ?>

    <?php wp_link_pages('before=<div class="page-link">' .__('Pages:', 'thematic') . '&after=</div>') ?>
    </div>
    <?php thematic_postfooter(); ?>
    </div><!-- .post -->

    <?php get_sidebar('single-insert') ?>

    <div id="nav-below" class="navigation">
    <div class="nav-previous"><?php previous_post_link('%link', '<span class="meta-nav">«</span> %title') ?></div>
    <div class="nav-next"><?php next_post_link('%link', '%title <span class="meta-nav">»</span>') ?></div>
    </div>

    <?php comments_template(); ?>

    <?php get_sidebar('single-bottom') ?>

    </div><!-- #content -->
    </div><!-- #container -->

    <?php get_sidebar() ?>
    <?php get_footer() ?>

  4. Weird. I ask because it's not a CSS problem. Your sidebars are loading in the content area. Try downloading the latest version from the WordPress Themes Directory.

  5. OK. I'll try deleting Thematic from my server and uploading the latest version, as you suggested.

  6. That didn't help. Now I get the sidebar above the post when viewing single posts (still in the content area). What might be wrong?

  7. Can you throw a text widget into single-top? I want to see where that ends up.

  8. Done.

    I haven't worked with widgets before, but I think I got it right.

    But I don't see the widget anywhere when visitin my site outside of admin area.

  9. Are you using any plugins?

    Posted 10 years ago #
  10. I have no active plugins.

  11. Activate the default theme, visit your site, and then activate Thematic theme again.

    If that doesn't work …

    If you email me with a temp username and password for the blog I'll try and find some time to log-in and poke around. I suspect it's some weird Database thing so back up your blog database first. I can't make any promises but I'll try and see what's up.

  12. I logged-in and poked around. I have no idea why this is happening: It looks like sidebar() is loading where sidebar('single-top') should be. The only other suggestion I have is upgrading to 2.6.1.

  13. I somehow convinced Justin Tadlock to look at this too (thanks Justin!). Neither one of us can figure out what the problem is. We don't think it's the theme.

  14. Thanks for trying!

    I have changed theme to Theseus now, and modified it a bit, even though I really don't know much about CSS. I like the way it came out, though.

    Great themes and very good support!
