  1. I had tried many other free themes before I arrived here. One day while searching for how to create a sandbox to test my theme, I happened upon a link to the Sandbox theme. I activated it on my site and being somewhat new to HTML and CSS, I had some questions that led me to start posting in the Sandbox forums. Ian was one of the people who responded to my question of was anyone still active at these forums. In his forum signature I noticed a link to to his personal web-site and a WordPress theme he was working on. I have been here ever since.

Ian, Chris and the rest of the team have gone above and beyond in the development, documentation, and support of this project. I unfortunately can't afford to thank you monetarily and I don't feel I'm knowledgeable enough to help here in the forums, so I thought that instead I could start this thread and be the first to express my most sincere thanks to everyone involved here. Thematic is by far the best theme I have ever used and I really can't see myself changing to another one. I like the feeling of being a part of the Thematic Community and if there is ever anything I can do, please let me know.

Thank You Thematic! Live Long and Prosper!

  2. Live Long and Prosper indeed Thematic!

I'd also like to add a heartfelt thanks to Ian, Chris, and the rest of the gang here on the forums. I started using Thematic several months ago for a major project based on WPMU, and as I have gotten to the design portion, the helpful advice, code examples, and creative solutions here on the forums has been amazing, especially because I'm creating three separate child themes, all with different function and design needs.

I do my best to give back to the Thematic community here on the forums and by posting on my own site, and I plan to continue as I learn more.

Ian, Chris, and anyone else here...if there's anything I can do to be of further assistance, please feel free to let me know. I'd be delighted:)

  4. Great Idea! And let's keep this little thread going, guys.

I was completely new to child themes before finding Ian and Thematic. I had messed around with other themes and had enough css knowledge to kind of fake my way through it all.

It worked out well, for the most part. But I was constantly frustrated about losing all of my little hacks every time there was a theme upgrade. Then I heard about Thematic, I think, from the WeblogTools Collection.

Also, with the help of this site, I was able to set up an XAMPP server on my computer. Before that time, I didn't even know of such things, haha.

Anyway, with the help of Chris, Ian, and the forums, I am now building my first little child theme based off of a combination Acamas and Thematic (I have been using Acamas for about 11 months now). It is a very minimalistic, single-column theme that I'll be using as the next version of my site. I don't know if my customizations or my code is 'elegant,' but the damn thing is working so far, and I have this site to thank for that.

So, thank you very much to everyone that has been so helpful to us. It might be annoying for some of you pros to have to deal with many of our simple questions, but for those of us not very familiar with these things, it can be very frustrating for us to get it right. We appreciate all of the time you take to help us with our requests.

    Thanks a ton.

A BIG thank you to Ian, Chris, and the other folks on this forum! I am slowly learning more about all this stuff and this forum has been amazingly helpful for information and ideas.

Thematic is a very well-designed theme and I chose to work with it over other themes because of its ease of customization and this excellent support forum.

I really appreciate your good work...Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Thanks to Chris, Amy and Jonathan for your very quick responses these past few days.
I'd previously created custom child themes using the wordpress default theme as a template. This time round I wanted to use Thematic as It seemed a more flexible and powerful way of doing things. Well I threw myself in the deepend and it did take longer (5 days instead of the previous 3).
I'm getting my head round it but R&D time is always limited when there's a deadline in the distance.
I've finished this one... I look forward to the next!!
I will battle on, I'm not a php developer so it's a massive learning curve for me and I found that there isn't that much consolidated documentation but this forum is amazing.

    thanks again guys. Great work
