  1. Hi,
    I have read Helga the "menu" viking's great tutorial and almost have my menu where I want it, using her suggestions. Still a couple little things I have been struggling with (for way too long!) and hoping for some help.

    I have a non-thematic theme that I am in the process of bringing over to Thematic. The menu skinning is the hardest. The non-thematic theme can be seen here: www.krowchukdressage.com and my conversion project can be found here sandbox.krowchukdressage.com

    Can anyone help me figure out how to achieve the final little details?

    Thanks in advance,
    Chris

  2. I'm sorry, I should have been clearer about what needs work, sub menus and sub sub menus.

  3. first thing is to either remove .windows .sf-menu a {} or adjust the padding on it. i'm not sure why thematic has that, but i presume it is b/c windows renders a litttttle bit differently?

    .sf-menu li li a, .sf-menu li.sfHover li a
    and
    .sf-menu li li {

    set the background to transparent for both

    that gets it looking pretty much the same as your live site (as far as i can see)

  4. Thanks Helga!

    I don't see any class of .windows on my system? Would that be a dynamic body class that gets inserted on windows systems? I use a mac, I'll have to pry the HP Laptop from wifey and see.

    I couldn't find those solutions if my life had depended on it.

    Thank you so much for having a peek and helping!

    My eyes were bleeding - I really would rather have unneeded root canal(s) than style another menu!!! ughh!!!

    I have the menu now pretty much the same as the live site, the only thing I have to mess with is the width of the dropdowns, they are too wide and the 3rd level under ARTICLES flies off the page. How would I style the width of the sub menu and the sub sub menu?

  5. I found this:

    jQuery.noConflict();
    jQuery(document).ready(function(){
        jQuery("ul.sf-menu").supersubs({
            minWidth: 12, // minimum width of sub-menus in em units
            maxWidth: 27, // maximum width of sub-menus in em units
            extraWidth: 1 // extra width can ensure lines don't sometimes turn over
                                            // due to slight rounding differences and font-family
        }).superfish({
            delay: 400, // delay on mouseout
            animation:   {opacity:'show',height:'show'},    // fade-in and slide-down animation
            speed: 'fast', // faster animation speed
            autoArrows: false, // disable generation of arrow mark-up
            dropShadows: false // disable drop shadows
        });
    });

    in

    "/thematic/library/scripts/thematic-dropdowns.js"

    By changing maxWidth from 27 to 15 it formats the dropdown widths to a size that works for me, however, I am modifying the parent theme itself. Should I find a way to modify this script in a child theme?

  6. check my menus thread again. i wrote a section on how to add sub-indicator arrows... it is the exact same process.

  7. Very cool htv!

    I missed that the first time because I wasn't interested in sub-indicator arrows.

    So, this resolves then my nav menu. Thank you again for your help!

    I have one more thing to add to the menu, the fancy pop up search box and it requires a javascript. Off to play with that and see if I can figure it out. :-)

    Cheers!
    Chris
