I used the wire-frame ( http://bluemandala.com/thematic/thematic-structure.html ) to figure out where exactly the asides are rooted from. Wonderful resource, by the way.
Here's my trouble: Since #main is relatively positioned, I can't use z-index to bring an absolutely-positioned aside to the front, which is my goal. Would it work to move the sidebar to #header? And how would that be done?
Basically, I would like to pull the sidebar up a few hundred pixels and have it overlap both #header and #main, clearing below. The site I'm working on is at http://www.artsmartsolutions.com . Aesthetically-speaking, I'm sure you can see right away how it would be much better if the sidebar could be pulled up a ways into the header region and and forced to be over the top of everything else (while still having the navigation work!).
I've been pulling my hair out trying to get it to work. It disappears behind the header when I absolutely position it, and z-index only serves to make the navigation break. I'm not a CSS-expert but am comfortable with coding. Any help will be wonderfully accepted. (I've searched the forum already.)
