    Hey Guys,

    I'm trying to put a site together which will mainly feature image galleries.

    My main challenge is that basically I want the home page to mainly feature thumbnails for galleries or linked to other sites but it needs to be easily updatable.

    Does anyone have any ideas on how this can be done efficiently?

    Is there a really good gallery plugin that could handle this? or maybe a way to handle it with widgets?

    Any input you guys can offer would greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Chris.

  2. Here is the link to the (Chris Wallace) galley theme. I personally have not used it yet (will be working with it today) so I'm not sure how it is set up. But maybe that might help.

    Or this site, which has galleries made of all CSS, no javascript. You would have to put your HTML in your function.php.....

    Thanks for the input, I've used this theme and that is the type of gallery thumbnail functionality that I'd like for my homepage so does anyone know what code I would need to pull from this theme to incorporate into a new theme to have this style of thumbnail grid functionality?

  5. Sorry for the delay. I was having server issues with my test site. From taking a quick look at the galley theme, I believe you would copy/paste from....

    // Creating the content for the INDEX
    function remove_index_loop() {
    remove_action('thematic_indexloop', 'thematic_index_loop');
    }
    add_action('init', 'remove_index_loop');
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    everything in-between
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    // End of INDEX

    I have not tested this myself yet. So I can't promise this is correct.

  6. ooops.......

    Not "End of INDEX" but copy all the way down to the action just ABOVE where the //Theme Options starts

  7. Here is the tutorial for custom panels. This may help you more than I have already.

  8. Or....

    just make a copy of the gallery theme, then change out the colors/images etc etc... which is what I'm doing right now. I'm still playing with this theme though, so if I come up with something else, I'll let you know.

  9. I think you're on the right track, but another option would be to use custom post types to display the images/galleries.

    I have a portfolio theme that does this: http://wptheming.com/2010/07/portfolio-theme/

    If you wanted to do this in Thematic, you could pretty much rip out the functions.php file and add it to your child theme, and then add two new page templates for the multiple and single custom post type.
